My dear sheep. One more sleep till we gather in the presence of the Lord again. What a joy and privilege! We will finish off Hebrews this week. I would ask you to please pray for me as I decide where we turn to next. I have a few different ideas, but have not settled on something. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will lead me to the pastures that we need to feed upon in His word.

I look forward to seeing you all in the morning (DV)!

Morning Sermon

Title: By Faith They Were More Than Conquerors

Text: Hebrews 11:32-40

Suggested Reading: Mark 16-17

Richard D. Phillips, "What is it, then, that puts their names on this blessed list of God’s beloved? It is only one thing: faith. Someday we will look back and see how insignificant are so many things that we think so important now—our clothes, our cars, our houses, our reputations—just as we look back on the heroes of Hebrews 11 and realize that their faith is all that really mattered. With faith we gain Christ and his cross, the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting; without faith we are left to perish with the useless things of this world."

Evening Sermon

Title: By Faith We Run the Race

Text: Hebrews 12:1-2

Suggest Reading: Philippians 2

Alexander Maclaren, "We are in the arena; the race has to be run, the battle to be fought. All round and high above us, a mist, as it were, of fixed gazers beholds us, and on the throne is the Lord of life, the judge of the strife, whose smile is better than all crowns, whose downward-pointing finger seals our fate. We are compassed with a cloud of witnesses, and we may see Jesus the author and finisher of faith. Both of these facts are alleged here as encouragements to persevering, brave struggle in the Christian life."
